Thelandofpapua.com – The Regional Government of Papua has initiated the appointment of Teacher Agents as school principals to enhance education services in line with the Independent Learning movement spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). In recognition of the challenges inherent in policy implementation, the Papua Teacher Agents Office (BGP) organized a Technical Guidance activity on School Leadership for Teacher Agents aimed at equipping educators with the necessary skills to navigate the multifaceted responsibilities of school leadership.

The Technical Guidance was held from February 26th to 29th, 2024, at the Horison Ultima Entrop Papua Hotel, and targeted 52 School Principals hailing from the Teacher Agent Education Program (PPGP) across 11 Districts/Cities within the BGP’s jurisdiction. The Teacher Agent Education Program (PPGP) aims to instill leadership skills and foster a student-centric learning approach among educators, recognizing that modern-day school principals serve as catalysts for change rather than mere administrators, playing pivotal roles in mobilizing school communities to elevate the quality of education.

The event showcased exemplary practices in School Leadership within Limitations and School Entrepreneurship, eliciting positive responses from attendees. Participants, such as Ester Winarni and Fenina Esther Raunsay, expressed enthusiasm in implementing innovative initiatives within their respective schools. Resource persons from diverse backgrounds, including the Center for Education and Training of Kemendikbudristek and local educational institutions, imparted their expertise during the event.

The Technical Guidance equipped participants with insights into ethical decision-making, 21st-century managerial skills, and performance assessment methodologies. Kokom Komala, a resource person from the Center for Employee Education and Training of Kemendikbudristek, stressed the importance of motivational leadership and effective communication in achieving organizational goals. The significance of continuous self-improvement among school principals was underscored by Fatkurohmah, the Head of BGP Papua, citing Ministerial Regulation No. 7327/B.B1/HK.03.01/2023.
