Indigenous Papuan students continue to prove they are capable of achieving excellence on a national level. Through the Affirmative Education for Secondary Education Program (ADEM), 105 students from Papua have successfully passed the 2025 national university entrance selections (SNBP and SNBT). They are part of a cohort of 206 students who have been studying in East Java under the ADEM program.
Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, expressed her pride and appreciation as she welcomed 145 new Papuan students in Malang City on Friday (July 11). These students will continue their studies at 36 different high schools and vocational schools across East Java.
“Our ADEM students are exceptional,” said Khofifah. “Keep studying hard and pursue your dreams, just like your older peers who are now attending top universities in Indonesia.”
Khofifah emphasized that education is the key to success and cited inspiring Papuan figures who have made a national impact, including Dr. Ribka Haluk, Natalius Pigai, and Yohana Yembise.
ADEM is more than just an access program — it fosters character-building, national insight, and cultural integration. Students from Sentani, Sorong, Manokwari, Merauke, Nabire, Timika, and Wamena are now walking a new path — not just as beneficiaries of educational opportunities, but as future leaders and changemakers for Papua.
