Jayapura – The fighting spirit of Papuan youth is once again shining. Jayapura Mayor, Abisai Rollo, officially sent off the delegation of the Indonesian Karate-Do Federation (Forki) Jayapura City to compete in the 2025 Papua Regional Karate Championship (Kejurda). The ceremony, held on Thursday (September 11), was filled with pride and optimism, reflecting the belief that Papuan sons and daughters are ready to perform at their best.
In his remarks, Mayor Abisai Rollo expressed his deep appreciation to the Forki Jayapura management for their dedication in preparing young Papuan athletes. He emphasized that these athletes represent courage and determination, carrying the hopes of their city. “With great confidence and spirit, I hope our children will show their best abilities. Our target is to win the overall championship at the Papua Kejurda and bring honor to Jayapura City,” he said.
Forki Jayapura City Chairperson, Ria Palalo, explained that 52 of the city’s best athletes will compete in both kata and kumite categories, from beginners to seniors. For the past three weeks, the athletes have undergone intensive training at GOR Waringin. “The children have been training with high enthusiasm, and we are optimistic about claiming the overall championship,” she said.
She also stressed that the athletes represent the finest talents from various karate schools under Forki Jayapura. This proves that Papua’s younger generation holds tremendous potential to shine in sports, particularly karate.
With strong preparation and determination, Forki Jayapura City is aiming for the overall championship title—not only as a sporting achievement but also as a statement of the contribution of Papuans in advancing sports and uplifting the pride of Jayapura. The 2025 Papua Karate Championship will take place from September 12–14 at the Papua Bangkit Stadium, featuring delegations from nine districts and cities across Papua.
This event is more than just a competition; it is a stage to showcase the resilience, spirit, and pride of Papuan youth. From the dojo to the arena, they carry the heartbeat of Papua—fighting with honor and passion to make their city proud.
