The Flobamora Cultural Festival held in Manokwari, West Papua, received high appreciation from the Provincial Government for serving as a space that strengthens unity and diversity through art and tradition.
Eduard Towansiba, Expert Staff to the Governor of West Papua, emphasized that this festival acts as an important bridge to foster solidarity across generations. He highlighted that every dance, song, and tradition showcased reflects the richness of the Indonesian archipelago’s culture that must be preserved.
“West Papua is home to everyone. This festival shows that diversity is a strength that enriches the Land of the Cassowary,” he said.
The inaugural festival, held from September 26–28, 2025, featured three main events: traditional dance performances, a cultural fashion competition, and a choir contest. Committee Chairperson Gordianus Gebo stated that this initiative is a concrete step to preserve cultural identity while inspiring young people from NTT to remain connected to their heritage.
Eduardus Haleserens, Head of Flobamora Manokwari, noted that the festival reflects the community’s deep love for cultural heritage within the spirit of national unity. Meanwhile, Clinton Tallo, Head of Flobamora West Papua Province, expressed that the event proves the community’s ability to unite and create together, even far from their homeland.
Thus, the Flobamora Cultural Festival in Manokwari is not only a stage for art but also a platform that nurtures harmony and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood in Papua’s diverse society.
