Thelandofpapua.com – Yance Samonsabra, SH, M.Si, born on January 6, 1978, has made significant strides in his career, culminating in his election to the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Representing the electoral district of West Papua in the 2019 elections, Yance’s journey to this esteemed position is marked by his extensive involvement in community and organizational activities, especially within Christian youth circles, and his dedicated service as a facilitator for various government programs in West Papua.

Active Role in Christian Organizations

Yance’s leadership qualities were evident early in his career through his active participation in Christian organizations. Between 2002 and 2003, he served as the Secretary of the Indonesian Christian Student Fellowship (PMKI), a role that underscored his commitment to fostering community and spiritual growth among his peers.

Concurrently, from 2002 to 2006, he was a dedicated member of the Indonesian Christian Student Movement (GMKI), further solidifying his involvement in nurturing youth leadership and advocacy.

In the past decade, Yance has continued his organizational engagement with the Pentecostal Church Youth Organization in Indonesia (GPdI). His contributions began at the regional level in Manokwari and expanded to the provincial level in West Papua, reflecting his growing influence and commitment to his faith and community.

Facilitating Government Programs in West Papua

Yance’s career as a government program facilitator began in 2007 when he took on the role of Facilitator for the District Development Program (PPK) in North Misool District, Raja Ampat Regency. His dedication to community development was further recognized in 2008 when he became an Advisor for the National Program for Independent Rural Community Empowerment (PNPM Mandiri Pedesaan) in the same district.

Since 2005, Yance has been a registered Technical Officer for the Village Community Development and Empowerment Program (P3MD) in West Papua Province. This long-standing role highlights his expertise and commitment to improving the quality of life for rural communities in West Papua, ensuring that government initiatives are effectively implemented and tailored to local needs.

Elected Member of the DPD RI

Yance Samonsabra’s extensive experience and dedication to community service culminated in his election to the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia in the 2019 elections. Representing the electoral district of West Papua, he secured his position with 80,000 votes, ranking third among the four elected candidates.
