Central Papua’s Liga 4 Officially Kicks Off in Mimika with High Hopes from Regional Leaders

Thelandofpapua.com – The 2024–2025 Liga 4 of the Provincial Football Association (Asprov PSSI) of Central Papua has officially begun, marking a significant moment for grassroots football development in the region.

The competition was formally opened by Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa at Wania SP 1 Football Field in Mimika Regency, where the event will be held from April 9 to April 16, 2025.

A total of seven regional teams are participating in the tournament: Persinab Nabire, Persido Dogiyai, Persipuncak Puncak Cartenz, Persemi Mimika, Persintan Intan Jaya, Persipuja Puncak Jaya, and Persidei Deiyai.

The launch of this league has sparked enthusiasm and aspirations from regional leaders, who expressed strong support for their respective teams. One such message came from Intan Jaya Regent Aner Maisini, who voiced high hopes for Persintan Intan Jaya as they prepare to take the field.

“Tomorrow, Persintan will compete, and I sincerely hope they emerge as champions in this tournament and move forward to Liga 3,” said Aner during an interview with local media in Nabire on the evening of April 9.

He added that a victory in Liga 4 would not only boost the morale of the players but also become a catalyst for football development in Intan Jaya.

“I will continue to provide full support so that in the future, young talents from Intan Jaya can rise and represent Central Papua,” he affirmed.

The ongoing tournament is seen as a vital platform for nurturing local talent and strengthening the football culture in Central Papua, with aspirations to elevate the region’s teams to the national level.
