Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk emphasized the importance of synchronizing Papua’s Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) with Indonesia’s National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). The alignment is intended to ensure that regional development programs are consistent with national priorities while responding to the specific needs of communities in Papua.

The development planning process, discussed through regional development planning forums (musrenbang), serves as a strategic platform where regional leaders, ministries, and government agencies coordinate policies and programs. The Indonesian government is also strengthening inter-ministerial collaboration to support Papua’s development agenda. In addition, Papua Province plays a strategic role as a reference point for development in newly established autonomous regions across the Papua region. Strengthening governance, public service delivery, and infrastructure development in Papua is therefore considered essential to support broader regional development.
