Thelandofpapua.com — The General Election Commission (KPU) of Mimika has partnered with Gakkumdu to oversee the monitoring of 93 polling station locations (TPS) for the upcoming 2024 Regional Election. The designated polling stations are situated across the Wania and Mimika Timur Districts.
In Wania District, KPU has identified a total of 77 polling station locations. Meanwhile, Mimika Timur District features 16 polling station coordinates.
As part of this initiative, the monitoring activities have now entered their second day, supported by five dedicated monitoring teams.
Hironimus Kia Ruma Ladoangin, the Coordinator of the Legal Division of KPU Mimika, provided insights into the monitoring progress. He reported that the results indicate no significant changes in the polling station coordinates, which remain largely consistent with previous assessments.
“There are a few that have been moved, but not far from the previous locations,” Hiro explained.
In terms of voter registration, Wania District has a Permanent Voter Data (DPT) count of 41,472 voters. This includes 21,000 male voters and 20,472 female voters.
Conversely, Mimika Timur District has a total of 7,453 voters, comprising 3,682 female voters and 3,771 male voters.
As the election date approaches, KPU Mimika is committed to ensuring a smooth electoral process by thoroughly monitoring the established polling stations and confirming the accuracy of voter data.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of transparency and preparedness as the region gears up for the elections.
