Thelandofpapua.com – Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has stirred up discussions surrounding the possibility of Taylor Swift performing in Indonesia, following rumors of an exclusive contract with Singapore.
Speculation has been rife that the Singaporean government has secured Taylor Swift for an exclusive concert in the country. Minister Luhut, however, believes Indonesia should not miss out on such opportunities and could emulate Singapore’s approach.
In a recent Instagram post on Friday (8/3/2024), Minister Luhut asserted, “Yesterday it was Taylor Swift, I think it’s just that Indonesia is not very clever, if people can book her, then we should just book her.”
Acknowledging the potential costs involved in securing Swift’s performance, Minister Luhut emphasized that Indonesia has the financial capacity to make such arrangements. He characterized it as part of the competitive landscape in the entertainment market, stating, “Do we have to pay? Yes, we pay. What’s wrong with that? It’s just competition, there’s nothing wrong with it.”
Moreover, Minister Luhut urged all stakeholders capable of lobbying and attracting Taylor Swift to Indonesia to act swiftly. He assured that the government, particularly his ministry, which oversees the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, stands ready to provide assistance if necessary. “Come on, just bring it up if there are any problems, let me know,” he emphasized
