Ridwan Rumasukun Advocates for Education During Visit to Papua Hope School

Thelandofpapua.com – Acting Governor Ridwan Rumasukun of Papua recently undertook a significant working visit to the Papua Hope School/Education Foundation in Kemiri, Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, on Monday, April 29th, 2024.

During his visit, Governor Ridwan addressed the students, encouraging them to persevere in their studies to continue the legacy of development in the region. He expressed his aspirations, stating, “I hope that someday one of these children will become the Governor of Papua.” This message underscored his belief in the potential of the youth to shape the future of the province.

Governor Ridwan also commended the efforts of the Papua Hope School in fostering education in the region. He emphasized the school’s substantial investments in enhancing the quality of education in Papua, including the development of infrastructure, the expansion of educational access, and the improvement of learning standards. He emphasized the long-term benefits of such investments, foreseeing a brighter future for Papua through education.

The Acting Governor was warmly received by teachers and members of the Foundation upon his arrival at the Papua Hope School. Also present during the visit was Christian Sohilait, the Head of the Provincial Department of Education, Library, and Archives of Papua, highlighting the collaborative efforts between government bodies and educational institutions.

Expressing gratitude, Governor Ridwan acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Papua Hope Education Foundation in supporting the government’s initiatives to educate Papua’s children. Dr. Matt Basinger, Director of the Papua Hope Language Institute (PHLI)/Papua Hope Education Foundation, reciprocated the appreciation for Governor Ridwan’s visit and affirmed the Foundation’s commitment to educating and empowering Papuan children. He reiterated their dedication to supporting governmental efforts in the field of education and appealed for assistance from the Papua Provincial Government in addressing any land-related issues hindering their mission.
