Enhancing Tourism Potential Through Digital Marketing
To harness this potential, the Yapen Islands Government has taken strategic steps. Through the Tourism Office, they train managers to adapt to digital marketing.
Acting Regent Suzana Wanggai inaugurated a three-day training session at Merpati Hotel, Serui.
Key attendees included Acting Regional Secretary Oktavianus Ayorbaba and Tourism Office Head Nikolas Imbiri. Representatives from the Village Community Empowerment Office were also present.
“This training focuses on equipping destination operators and village tourism managers.”said Nikolas Imbiri, the Head of the Tourism Office.
It also aims to provide business management skills to private tourism owners,” said Nikolas Imbiri.
The training brought together participants from various districts, including Anoutourei, Kosiwo, Poom, and Ampimoi.
Other districts involved were South Yapen, Ambai Islands, West Yapen, and East Yapen.
Social Media as a Key to Expanding Tourism Reach
Acting Regent Suzana Wanggai emphasized the importance of social media as a marketing tool.
“Social media makes tourism promotion easier and more effective, broadening our ability to showcase Yapen Islands’ attractions,” she stated.
She encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training.
This initiative aims to boost local tourism as a key source of regional income and improve community welfare.
