The acceleration of road development and infrastructure in remote areas of Papua is bringing joy and relief to local communities. Governor of Papua, Mathius Derek Fakhiri, emphasized that these efforts, particularly in Mamberamo Raya Regency, are designed to reduce isolation and make it easier for residents to access essential services such as education, healthcare, and public facilities.
“Opening access roads is a strategic step to allow communities to live more comfortably and stay connected to service centers,” Fakhiri said on Sunday.
Residents in Dabra, Sikari, and other remote areas have directly felt the benefits of the road development, which facilitates mobility and the distribution of essential goods. The governor’s field visit to Kasonaweja, together with Forkopimda and local communities, provided an opportunity to hear the people’s aspirations while demonstrating government attention to their needs.
In addition to road development, the government is promoting the enhancement of air transport and port facilities. Existing airports will be optimized, and the planned port in Burmeso is being discussed with the central government to accelerate mobility and logistics distribution.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring that development in Papua is not only concentrated in urban areas but also reaches villages and remote regions. Regional-based economic development, including agriculture and plantations, is also being encouraged to ensure that the benefits of growth are widely felt.
“By visiting remote areas directly, we can see the real conditions of the communities. These efforts bring a sense of trust, hope, and happiness to residents, showing that development truly reaches their daily lives,” Fakhiri added.
Overall, the acceleration of access and infrastructure in Papua’s remote areas brings happiness and optimism to communities while opening wider opportunities for economic growth and improved quality of life.
